Rate My Professor Gemma Irwin-Porter

Mrs Gemma Irwin-Porter is Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Nursing at the Bristol Veterinary School, University of Bristol. She serves as Programme Director for veterinary nursing programmes, where she leads a team of academic staff to deliver bespoke educational offerings. Her qualifications include PGCE, FHEA, MSc, SFHEA, NVQ 2 & 3, and BSc (Hons). She has contributed to research on veterinary interprofessional education, including co-authoring publications such as Veterinary Interprofessional Education - what do the students think? in 2024 and Interprofessional education in veterinary medicine in 2024. In 2019 she was recognised for her leadership in providing pastoral care for student veterinary nurses. Mrs Irwin-Porter also participates in curriculum enhancement workshops and supports clinical demonstrator roles within the veterinary nursing field.

Her professional focus remains on advancing veterinary nursing education and interprofessional collaboration at the University of Bristol. She maintains an active role in teaching and programme leadership while contributing to publications and initiatives that support student development in veterinary medicine. Mrs Irwin-Porter continues to engage with the broader academic community through her positions at the Bristol Veterinary School.
