Geo Sipp serves as the Director of the School of Art and Design and Professor of Art at Kennesaw State University. Under his leadership, enrollment in the school has expanded to over 1,000 students. He earned a BFA from the University of Florida and an MFA from Clemson University. Sipp brings over 40 years of experience as a professional illustrator to his academic role. His career originated in New York, where he created window displays for Bloomingdale’s and contributed to their design department. He subsequently worked in comics, produced advertising storyboards, held positions as creative director at several advertising agencies, and operated as a freelance illustrator. Following 18 years in the commercial sector, particularly amid the rise of digital tools like Photoshop, Sipp pursued graduate studies to cultivate his own artistic interests and visual narrative style.
Prior to KSU, Sipp was a Distinguished Professor of Art at Missouri Western State University, where he received the Missouri Governor's Award for Excellence in Education. At Kennesaw State, he was appointed Director by Dr. Patricia Poulter. Sipp's creative output includes the ongoing wordless graphic novel 'Wolves in the City,' a project that invites readers to interpret and dialogue through imagery alone. An illustration from this series, 'The Milk Bar,' garnered the Merit Award for Illustration in the Self-Promotion category from the Art Directors Club. Additionally, two of his illustrations were selected for American Illustration 44, highlighting leading contemporary image makers. Sipp has curated exhibitions at the Zuckerman Museum of Art, including 'The 9th Art: Frames and Thought Bubbles' and displays related to 'Wolves in the City -- The Algerian Diaspora in France.' His non-decorative, editorial illustrations seek to provoke thought and foster deep viewer engagement.
