Glenn Richardson is a professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. He serves as the internship coordinator for the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science program, assisting students with placements in federal, state, and local government agencies, political campaigns, non-profit organizations, and for-profit entities. Richardson earned his B.A. and M.A. from Southern Illinois University and his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. He chairs the legislative committee of the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF), contributing to advocacy on higher education policy issues. His teaching includes courses such as POL 341: American Political Thought and POL 562: Urban Politics.
Richardson's scholarship focuses on political communication, media effects, and democratic processes. His book Pulp Politics: How Political Advertising Tells the Stories of American Politics (Rowman & Littlefield, 2001) examines how campaign advertisements draw from popular culture narratives to shape voter understanding of politics. He edited Social Media and Politics: A New Way to Participate in the Political Process (Praeger, 2016), a two-volume work analyzing digital platforms' role in political participation. Recent contributions include the chapter 'Make Ads Safe for Democracy' in Fixing American Politics: Solutions for the Media Age (Routledge) and the article 'Agenda Setting in the Twenty-First Century' co-authored with G.R. Boynton in New Media & Society (2016). He has received internal research grants from Kutztown University and participated in department initiatives, including hosting the Pennsylvania Political Science Association's annual conference in 2022. Richardson's work has appeared in journals such as Presidential Studies Quarterly and Poroi, influencing discussions on political advertising and media literacy.
