Professor Graham Dellar is an Adjunct Professor at Curtin University. He previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Education, Language Studies and Social Work at Curtin University of Technology. Earlier in his career, he held the position of senior lecturer in educational leadership, school development, and curriculum theory within the Faculty of Education at Curtin University. Dellar brings extensive classroom teaching and administrative experience from both government and non-government secondary schools in Western Australia. He has been deeply engaged in professional associations, including the Australian Council for Educational Administration. Within the Western Australian Institute for Educational Research (WAIER), he held roles as Treasurer, Vice President, and President, and was a member since 1985. In recognition of his contributions, WAIER awarded him Fellowship in 2005.
Dellar's research specializations encompass educational leadership, school development, curriculum theory, school improvement, school effectiveness, and the impact of school-based management on classroom practices at the secondary school level. His key publications include 'The impact of school-based management on classroom practice at the secondary school-level' in Issues in Educational Research (1995); 'The school subject selection process: A case study' (1994); 'The Development of a Diagnostic Approach to Subject Selection Decisions' in the Asia-Pacific Journal of Vocational Education and Training (1992); and co-authorship of 'Curriculum Framework Implementation: Measuring the Implementation of a State-based Mathematics Curriculum Framework' with Rob Cavanagh and Leyla Sparrow (2000). He supervised doctoral theses such as Vicki Kay Williamson's EdD thesis 'Innovation and change in professional practice: a case study' (1999) and Bambang Suwarno's work on Indonesian language policy (year not specified). Dellar represented Curtin University in submissions to parliamentary inquiries on teacher education, including providing evidence to the House of Representatives inquiry in 2003. His work has contributed to understandings of educational restructuring and school management in Western Australia.
