About Hoi Kwong

Hoi Kwong Lo is a Professor of Physics and Provost's Chair Professor (2025-2028) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Physics. He also serves as a Principal Investigator at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT). Lo received a B.A. in Mathematics from Cambridge University in 1989 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1991 and 1994, respectively. His work focuses on quantum information science, including quantum cryptography and quantum communication.

Prior to his appointment at NUS, Lo held positions at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, Hewlett-Packard Labs in Bristol, and the University of Toronto, where he was affiliated with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is the co-founder and Chief Science Officer of Quantum Bridge. In 2026, Lo received the Leonard Mandel Award. His contributions center on theoretical and experimental aspects of quantum communication and quantum cryptography protocols.
