Holly Denton is a Senior Lecturer and Simulation Lead in the School of Nursing at Murdoch University, part of the College of Science, Health, Engineering and Education. She holds the position of Academic Lead for Simulation, where she coordinates simulation-based learning experiences essential for nursing student training. As a Registered Nurse with a Diploma of Nursing, Denton completed her Master's degree in Research at Murdoch University, supervised by Professor Catherine Fetherston and Dr. Ruth Wei. Her research emphasizes improving wound care education within undergraduate nursing programs. She served as corresponding author for the peer-reviewed article 'Required wound care content for nursing curricula in Australia: a Delphi study,' published in 2023 in Wound Practice and Research. This study involved a three-round Delphi survey with 17 international wound care experts, achieving consensus on 65 of 74 proposed topics. The findings outline a progressive curriculum structure: 19 topics in year one focusing on foundational anatomy and physiology, 19 in year two on assessment, 15 in year three on advanced treatment and therapies, and 12 topics recommended for postgraduate study. This framework supports the development of comprehensive skills in wound assessment, care planning, patient education, prevention strategies, and interprofessional collaboration.
Denton has co-authored additional publications advancing nursing education, including 'The nursification of a bioscience unit and its impact on student satisfaction and learning in an undergraduate nursing degree' with Catherine M. Fetherston and Ruth Wei. Her contributions extend to interdisciplinary research projects, such as serving as co-investigator on the 'Emotional Intelligence (EI) Training for teaching staff' initiative within Murdoch University's School of Education and collaborative work on drama-based and immersive technologies for teaching nursing students. These efforts underscore her commitment to innovative pedagogical approaches that integrate theoretical knowledge with practical clinical skills, enhancing student outcomes in nursing education at Murdoch University.
