Rate My Professor Ines Violante

Dr Ines Violante is a Senior Lecturer in Healthcare Engineering at the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences, King's College London, within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine. She holds a BSc in Biochemistry and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Coimbra. Following her doctoral studies, she received the Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellowship and carried out research at Imperial College London and University College London. Prior to her current role, she served as Senior Lecturer in Psychological Neuroscience at the University of Surrey, where she continues as a Visiting Senior Lecturer. She also maintains a visiting researcher position at Imperial College London.

Her research focuses on brain networks and dynamics, using computational models, EEG, MRI, and neuromodulatory techniques including sensory and electrical stimulation to understand and influence brain function and behaviour. Through her Neural Systems and Neuromodulation Lab, she develops approaches to address neurological and psychiatric conditions. Recent work includes investigations into sleep and memory processes, supported by a £1.8 million grant. Key outputs encompass studies on brain oscillations, transcranial stimulation methods, and their applications in clinical contexts, published in journals such as Nature Neuroscience and Brain Stimulation. Her contributions span from cellular mechanisms to human neuroimaging studies, advancing treatments for conditions involving disrupted brain connectivity.
