About I.P.L.

I.P.L. Png is a Distinguished Professor in the School of Business and the Departments of Economics and Information Systems and Analytics (by courtesy) at the National University of Singapore. He previously served as a faculty member at the Anderson School of the University of California, Los Angeles from 1985 to 1996 and at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 1993 to 1996. He has held visiting professorships at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 2011-2012 and at the Dyson School at Cornell University in 2016. In 2023-2024, he was a NUS Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.

Png earned a first-class honours degree in economics from the University of Cambridge in 1978 and a PhD from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1985. His research focuses on the economics of productivity and innovation, with recent work published or forthcoming in the Review of Economics and Statistics, Strategic Management Journal, Management Science, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He is the author of Managerial Economics, published in multiple editions and translated into Chinese, Korean, and Polish. Png has served as Principal Investigator on major grants from the Social Sciences Research Council of Singapore, including the SPIRE project on Service Productivity and Innovation Research funded at $4.75 million from 2017 to 2022 and the BeWork project on Behavioural Biases at Work funded at $1.63 million from 2023 to 2027.
