About Isabel

Isabel Reichert is a faculty member in the Digital Arts & Interactive Design Department at Ohlone College, where she joined as full-time faculty in 2012 and served as program coordinator for the Graphic Arts and Multimedia department, later renamed Digital Arts & Interactive Design. She earned her Master of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute and her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar. With over 15 years of teaching experience across colleges and universities in the San Francisco Bay Area, Reichert previously instructed courses in art, design, and critical theory at California College of the Arts, University of California Santa Cruz, and the San Francisco Art Institute. In addition to her academic career, she has worked professionally as a graphic designer specializing in web, print, and interactive media, as well as a multimedia artist and filmmaker whose works have been screened at international film festivals and exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide. Upon joining Ohlone College, she overhauled and expanded the Digital Arts & Interactive Design program, creating enhanced career and transfer pathways for students.

Reichert is distinguished for her innovative contributions to post-secondary correctional education and equity initiatives. During her sabbatical, she established partnerships with Elmwood Correctional Facility and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office Community College Collaborative, pioneering college-level courses in digital filmmaking and design for incarcerated individuals—the first such offerings in design and technology within California jails. This work supports recidivism reduction, emotional well-being, and family reconnection. She received the Emancipation Through Education Award from the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges for her leadership in advancing diverse voices, social justice, and access for marginalized communities. Named Faculty of the Month for December and January in the 2021-2022 academic year, Reichert is celebrated for her dedication to student success, extensive college service including running elections for the Unrepresented Faculty Organization, and positive impact on the Ohlone community. Colleagues and students praise her compassion, hard work, and role in shaping positive educational experiences and career trajectories.
