Jane Quandt is a Professor in the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, where she serves on the Anesthesia Service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Her academic credentials include a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Iowa State University obtained in 1987, a Master of Science (MS) from the University of Minnesota in 1991, a Bachelor of Science (BS) from North Dakota State University in 1982, and an Associate of Agriculture from North Dakota State University in 1982. She is board-certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (DACVAA) and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (DACVECC), reflecting her expertise in anesthesiology and critical care.
Dr. Quandt's distinguished career trajectory demonstrates her long-standing commitment to veterinary anesthesiology. She commenced her academic journey at the University of Georgia in 1991 as a Temporary Instructor in Anesthesiology within the Department of Small Animal Medicine at the College of Veterinary Medicine. She progressed to Assistant Professor from 1992 to 1998 and was promoted to tenured Associate Professor from 1998 to 1999. In 2001, she transitioned to the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, serving as Assistant Clinical Specialist in Anesthesiology and Critical Care, and was later promoted to Associate Clinical Professor in 2007. Returning to the University of Georgia in 2011, she rejoined as Tenured Associate Professor in Anesthesiology and Critical Care in the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. Her ongoing contributions led to further promotion to full Professor, as approved by the University of Georgia in 2018. Throughout her tenure, she has played key roles in clinical education, resident training programs, and faculty search committees, including the 2016 dean search committee for the College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2013, she was honored with Phi Zeta recognition by the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine for her exemplary service.
