Dr. Janet Noles, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP, serves as Chair of the Nursing Department, Director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, and FNP Specialty Director at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. With over 40 years of experience as a nurse educator and administrator, and 27 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner, she specializes in ambulatory care, family planning, pain management, gastroenterology, and rural health.
Dr. Noles earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin and worked as a registered nurse in intensive and cardiac care units for 10 years. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas, a Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. Upon completing her PhD, she was selected as Dean of the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing, the only nursing school owned and operated by three private church-owned universities, and participated in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Leadership Academy. Dr. Noles has presented scholarly works at local, regional, state, national, and international venues and directed the International Nursing Symposium in Limuru, Kenya, for missionary nurses worldwide. She served as Team Leader for accreditation site visits for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education for 15 years and currently serves on its Substantive Change Review Committee. She has been active in the Texas Nurse Practitioners as a regional representative and Board Member, and most recently as President of the Texas Nurse Practitioner Foundation Board, leading scholarship provision for nurse practitioner students in Texas. Dr. Noles was selected as a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2008.
