Dr. Jason Dunn is Chair of the Division of Humanities and Associate Professor of English at Thomas University in Thomasville, Georgia. He joined the university in 2015 as Assistant Professor of English and advanced to his current positions, including Division Chair by 2020. Dunn holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis, an M.A. from San Diego State University, and a B.A. from the University of South Florida. In his leadership role, he has driven significant enhancements to departmental resources to better support student success in humanities and interdisciplinary studies.
Under Dunn's direction, the Division of Humanities relocated the Mac Lab to the new Humanities building, integrating it with the recording studio to consolidate essential tools for students. As he explained, 'The purpose for the relocation was to bring all these resources together so that students could use them close together.' The Mac Lab, a longstanding essential resource, received upgraded desktops in 2023, supporting digital art, media classes, and creative projects. Dunn also serves as Program Director for the Creative Technologies program, described as cutting-edge, equipping students with technology and media skills vital for the modern job market. He noted, 'I have had several students tell me that the technology and media skills they gain in our courses prepare them for today’s job market.' Dunn contributed to the launch of the Literature and Media degree in Fall 2021, emphasizing digital engagement with ideas. He teaches ENG 101: Composition I, focusing on expository writing, summaries, analysis, synthesis, argument, critical thinking, research, and a major documented paper assessed by departmental exam. Additionally, he advises the campus book club, serves as contact for adjunct English Composition faculty, and lists as advisor for Liberal Studies.
