Dr Jasper Tromp is an Assistant Professor at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and holds a concurrent appointment at Duke-NUS Medical School. He also serves as Director of the Cardiovascular Clinical Trials Data Management Centre at the National Heart Centre Singapore. Tromp earned his Medical Doctor (MD) degree in 2016 and his PhD in Medicine (cum laude) in 2018, both from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He additionally holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and International Organizations from the same university, completed in 2012.
Tromp’s research focuses on the epidemiology, biomarkers, and treatment of heart failure, with particular emphasis on Asian populations and low- and middle-income countries. His work includes large-scale registry studies such as the ASIAN-HF and REPORT-HF registries, exploring multimorbidity, sex differences in medication dosing, and regional variations in heart failure outcomes. He has published extensively in high-impact journals including The Lancet, The Lancet Global Health, Circulation, the European Heart Journal, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Tromp serves as Editor for PLOS Global Public Health and as Section Editor for comorbidities in Current Heart Failure Reports. He is a scientific advisor to the AI-startup US2.ai, which develops artificial intelligence tools for echocardiography. In 2024, he received the NUS Young Researcher Award. Earlier honors include selection as a World Heart Federation Emerging Leader in 2020 and the Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award from the American Heart Association in 2018. Tromp has supervised PhD students and contributed to grant funding exceeding one million USD.
