Jennifer Printz is an associate professor in the Department of Art + Art History at Florida International University, specializing in drawing. She joined the faculty in 2019 as assistant professor for drawing and teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in two-dimensional media, public art, and professional practices. Printz earned a BFA from East Tennessee State University and an MFA from the University of Georgia in 2001, where she received multiple merit awards and research grants. Her interdisciplinary artistic practice employs photography, printmaking, drawing, and textiles to create poetic works exploring the invisible architecture of life, celestial structures, emotional systems, and the material universe. Her artwork has been exhibited extensively across the United States and internationally, including at the Spartanburg Museum of Art, Chroma Gallery, International Biennale of Prints in Portugal, and venues in Egypt and Russia. Notable installations include a large-scale project at the Skolnick Surgical Tower at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. Her creations reside in permanent collections such as the Royal Museum of Fine Art in Antwerp, Belgium, the Ben Shahn Center Galleries at William Patterson University, and the Esther Allen Greer Museum of Fine Art.
Printz has completed artist residencies at La Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Malta, and Frans Masereel Centre in Belgium, profoundly influencing her practice. She has received the Puffin Foundation Grant in 2004, Dendo Fellowship in 2016, NCAA Emerging Arts Administrators Fellowship in 2014, and Oolite Arts Ellies Creator award. Her scholarly contributions encompass conference presentations at SGC International, College Art Association in 2009, and Southeastern College Art conferences in 2018, 2013, and 2011. She authored the essay 'Print University' featured in the Norton Simon Museum's 'Proof: The Rise of Printmaking in Southern California' in 2010. Printz has held leadership positions including president of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society from 2007 to 2009, vice president of External Affairs for SGC International from 2010 to 2012, and board member for SECAC from 2017 to 2019. Since 2002, she has taught at various museums and universities, including workshops at the J. Paul Getty Museum and the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum. Her work has appeared in publications such as Tricycle, Carolina Review, Peripheral ARTeries, and In Her Studio.
