Brings enthusiasm to every interaction.
Jin Park is a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he joined the Mechanical Engineering faculty in August 2005. He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Engineering Science and Mechanics from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Park's academic career at Mankato has focused on advancing knowledge in mechanical engineering through teaching and research.
His research specializations include experimental and computational mechanics of solids, mechanical design, structural analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics, kinematic and motion design, and mechanics of advanced polymer composite materials. Key publications authored by Park demonstrate his contributions to nanocomposite research: "Determination of the Shear Buckling Load of a Large Polymer Composite Panel" (2012, co-authored with Jeong Wan Lee), "Shape Effect of Platelet Clay Filler on Mechanical Properties of Pultruded Nanocomposites" (with Namyong Lee), "Parametric Study on the Fabrication of Clay-containing Nanocomposites" (with Tye B. Davis), and "Mathematical Modeling of Nanocomposite Properties Considering Nanoclay/Epoxy Debonding." Park serves as an editor for the Korean Society of Manufacturing Technology Engineers Journal since 2014. He is a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Composites, and Korean Society of Manufacturing Technology Engineers. Park also supports graduate research by serving on thesis committees for projects involving nanocomposite fabrication and liquid-mediated adhesion mechanisms.
