Jon Love, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He serves as Division Chief of Pediatric Cardiology, Director of Congenital Heart Catheterization Services, and Co-Medical Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Program. Dr. Love specializes in pediatric interventional cardiology and pediatric cardiac catheterization. He has been an attending physician at University of New Mexico Hospitals since 2008. His career has emphasized clinical practice and program rebuilding, including the catheterization program and establishment of educational initiatives. He holds an active New Mexico medical license through 2027.
Dr. Love received his MD from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in 1989. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine from 1989 to 1992 and a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Yale-New Haven Medical Center from 1993 to 1996. At the University of New Mexico, Dr. Love has taken on cardiology resident education, establishing an early cardiology teaching curriculum for the residency program. He provides lectures to Phase I and II medical students and participates in the adult congenital program, lecturing to adult cardiology fellows. He delivers yearly lectures to neonatal intensive care nurses on post-catheterization management in neonates, contributed to curricula for pediatric intensive care nurses on congenital heart disease and post-surgical management, educated catheterization staff, and developed learning modules for training on new procedures. His publications include 'Intentional Fracture of Bioprosthetic Valve Frames in Patients Undergoing Valve-in-Valve Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Replacement,' 'Berlin heart as a bridge to recovery for a failing Fontan,' and 'Total right ventricular dependent coronary circulation in pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum.'
