Julie Meek is a Lecturer in Food Science and Nutrition at Murdoch University, based in the School of Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences within the College of Environmental and Life Sciences. As an Accredited Practising Dietitian and qualified Sports Dietitian, she applies her professional expertise to teaching undergraduate students in nutrition and food science programs. Her work is associated with the Food Futures Institute's Centre for Crop and Food Innovation, contributing to research that examines food composition and quality relevant to public health and industry.
Julie Meek has contributed to scholarly outputs in food science. She is a co-author on the 2024 publication 'Fatty acid profiling of Western Australian pasteurised milk from supermarket shelves' in Food Research International. This research analyzed the fatty acid composition of commercial full-fat pasteurised milk samples collected from supermarkets in Perth, Western Australia, identifying variations linked to production factors such as cow breed and diet. Meek participated in writing-review and editing. Additionally, she co-authored a conference proceeding in 2022 for the 46th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Nutrition Society of New Zealand and Australia, published in Proceedings of the Nutrition Society (volume 82, OCE2), alongside colleagues including Nicola Gray, Doan Duc Nguyen, and Vicky Ann Solah. In November 2024, Murdoch University announced her appointment as the dietitian for the Socceroos, Australia's men's national soccer team, demonstrating her influence in high-performance sports nutrition.
