Kajua B. Lor, PharmD, BCACP, serves as Chair and Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Medical College of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy in 2009, followed by a Postgraduate Year One residency in ambulatory care at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, Westside Community Health Services, in 2010. Dr. Lor began her academic career as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Touro University California College of Pharmacy in 2010, advancing to Associate Professor by 2016. She joined the Medical College of Wisconsin in August 2016 as Associate Professor and Founding Faculty in the Clinical Sciences Department, becoming Founding Chair in 2017. She was promoted to Professor in July 2025 and holds a secondary appointment as Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, MCW School of Medicine. Additional roles include Director of the Academic Pharmacy Fellowship and Residency Site Coordinator for the Walgreens-MCW PGY-1 Residency Program. She has practiced clinically as a pharmacist at sites including OLE Health in Napa, CA, where she served as Interim Director of Pharmacy from 2015 to 2016, and more recently at Hayat Pharmacy and Sixteenth Street Clinic in Milwaukee.
Dr. Lor's research specializations encompass medication adherence, health literacy, comprehensive medication management, complementary health approaches, herbal medicines, cultural competency, and health disparities in underserved populations, particularly Hmong and Hispanic/Latino communities; she is a native Hmong speaker proficient in Spanish. Key publications include "Survival of the Hmong population diagnosed with colon and rectal cancers in the United States" (Cancer Medicine, 2024), "Building Implementation Science Capacity in Academic Pharmacy: Report of the 2020-2021 AACP Research and Graduate Affairs Committee" (American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, 2021), "Gout prevalence in the Hmong: a prime example of health disparity and the role of community-based genetic research" (Personalized Medicine, 2021), "Medication Regimen Complexity and A1C Goal Attainment in Underserved Adults With Type 2 Diabetes" (Annals of Pharmacotherapy, 2017), and "Evaluation of asthma medication adherence rates and strategies to improve adherence in the underserved population at a Federally Qualified Health Center" (Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy, 2017). Major awards include Programs to Increase Diversity among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE) Scholar (2012), One-to-One Patient Counseling Recognition Award (American Pharmacists Association, 2013), 40 under 40 Professional of the Year (Milwaukee Business Journal, 2021), President's Community Engagement Award - Faculty (2021), and Women Pharmacist of the Year (2022). Dr. Lor has delivered invited keynote addresses, such as closing speaker at the Our City of Nations Conference in 2020 and 2021, contributing to community-engaged scholarship and health equity initiatives.
