Katherine Gray is the Chair and Professor of Art in the Department of Art and Design at California State University, San Bernadino. Holding an AOCA from the Ontario College of Art and Design and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, she specializes in studio art and glass-making. A distinguished glass artist, her innovative works—including vases, sculptures, and immersive installations—have been exhibited at Heller Gallery and UrbanGlass in New York City, with solo shows at Craft Contemporary (formerly the Craft and Folk Art Museum) in Los Angeles and the Toledo Museum of Art. Her pieces are included in permanent collections at the Corning Museum of Glass, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Asheville Museum of Art, and the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, WA, among others. Gray's artwork has received critical recognition, with reviews in the New York Observer, Artforum, the LA Times, and images featured in the New York Times Design magazine.
Gray has curated and juried multiple exhibitions, written reviews, articles, and essays on contemporary glass art, and taught workshops around the world. She serves as the resident evaluator on Netflix's 'Blown Away' series and as Interim Co-Director of the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art at CSUSB. Her achievements include the 2017 Libenský/Brychtová Award from the Pilchuck Glass School for artistic and educational contributions, induction into the College of Fellows of the American Craft Council in 2020, recognition as CSUSB's 2020-21 Outstanding Professor of the Year, and appointment as the John M. Pfau Endowed Professor.
