Katherine Koulle is a Lecturer (Teaching) in the Department of Culture, Communication and Media at the UCL Institute of Education. She is a member of the Academic Writing Centre team, where she contributes to supporting students' academic writing and language skills development. With a background in Applied Linguistics, Koulle has extensive experience teaching English for Academic Purposes to both undergraduate and postgraduate students across a diverse range of disciplines. She has worked as a Learning Developer in higher education for more than ten years, focusing on enhancing student academic practices and pedagogical innovations.
Koulle co-manages the ALDinHE Recognition Scheme alongside Nazlin Bhimani, promoting professional development for learning developers. Her publications include the co-authored article 'Special Collections as a catalyst for flexible pedagogical approaches: three case studies,' published in the Journal of Learning Development in Higher Education in 2019 with Maria Kukhareva, Anne Lawrence, and Nazlin Bhimani. This work examines how university special collections and historic artefacts can foster flexible teaching methods, criticality, narrative construction, and information literacy in higher education. She contributed to the edited volume Innovations in Active Learning in Higher Education in 2020. Koulle has presented workshops, such as 'Mapping learning futures in higher education - a collaborative scenario planning workshop' with Liz Herbert at the UCL Education Conference in 2023. She featured in the 'Practical Online Teaching Tips' video series, discussing online collaboration strategies with Louise Green in 2020. Additionally, she was elected to the UCL Academic Board and serves as a contact for postgraduate teaching opportunities in her department.
