Kathryn Dehle serves as an Associate Lecturer in the School of Education at Murdoch University. In this role, she holds key leadership positions including Executive Lead for Final Year Experience, Co-Academic Chair for Professional Experience, and Final Year Academic Director. With a background in secondary school teaching, Dehle possesses a Master of Education and focuses her academic efforts on advancing teacher preparation through school-university partnerships, initial teacher education, and work-integrated learning. Her contributions support the development of pre-service teachers by emphasizing purposeful guidance during professional experience placements and fostering collaborations between educational institutions.
Dehle's scholarly output includes several notable publications. In 2025, she co-authored 'School-based teacher educators’ use of a teaching performance assessment as a boundary object' with Chad Morrison, Helen Dempsey, and Sandi Fielder, published in the Australian Educational Researcher. This article examines the implementation of a summative capstone assessment aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers in teacher education programs. Also in 2025, she contributed to 'Changes in Mentor Teacher Participation in Postgraduate Secondary Initial Teacher Education: Climatic Conditions Preceding Workforce Reform' in the Australian Journal of Teacher Education, alongside Alison L. Hilton, Chad Morrison, Felicity McLure, and Sandi Fielder. This work analyzes mentor teacher engagement in pre-service teacher training amid evolving workforce reforms. Earlier, in 2022, Dehle participated in 'Communities of practice with a difference: Collaborative academic writing during disruption,' a conference paper addressing challenges faced by early career researchers and higher degree students in prioritizing writing amid COVID-19 disruptions. Her involvement extends to research projects exploring mentor teacher roles, professional experience partnerships, and the intersection of university and school-based teacher education.
