Kelly Gillespie, MS, CCC-SLP, serves as Clinical Associate Professor, Director of Clinical Education, and Interim Program Director in the Speech Language Pathology program at DePaul University’s College of Science and Health. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology in 2006 and a Master of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology in 2007, both from Marquette University. Gillespie brings extensive clinical experience from inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings, early intervention programs, and university clinics. Prior to joining DePaul, she held positions including Clinic Director and Adjunct Clinical Supervisor at Elmhurst University starting in 2019, Early Intervention Speech-Language Pathologist Evaluator and Provider in Illinois from 2009 to 2015 and intermittently thereafter, Adjunct Faculty and Clinical Instructor at Nova Southeastern University from 2016, Speech Language Pathologist at My Therapy Center in 2015, and Speech Language Pathologist II at Loyola University Medical Center from 2008 to 2015. At DePaul, she supervises graduate students during on-campus clinical experiences and externship placements, acts as a clinical supervisor, and teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. She has also served as an SLP on a medical diagnostic team and as a clinic director.
Gillespie’s professional interests center on the treatment of pediatric clients with motor planning disorders, language disorders, and oral-motor/feeding disorders. She has presented research on clinical education at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) convention and delivered local presentations on language disorders, feeding disorders, and literacy. She holds the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and is licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist by the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. An active member of ASHA and Special Interest Group 11 on Administration and Supervision, Gillespie has completed specialized training in the SOS Approach to Feeding, SOFFI Method for Supporting Oral Feeding in Fragile Infants, Beckman Oral Motor protocol, Kaufman Speech to Language Protocol, Picture Exchange Communication System, and Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP).
