Ken Corley, PhD, serves as Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management in the Department of Marketing & Supply Chain Management within Appalachian State University's Walker College of Business, contributing to the Business & Economics faculty. He earned his Ph.D. in Management of Innovation and Technology from Auburn University in 2008, M.B.A. from Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia, and B.F.A. from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. Corley joined the Walker College of Business as an Assistant Professor in August 2008 and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure effective July 1, 2015. Before entering academia, he held professional roles in marketing communications and operations management across textile manufacturing, cutting tool manufacturing, and the petrochemical industry. Additionally, he owned and operated his own marketing communications company prior to pursuing his doctoral degree.
Corley's academic interests center on the utilization of technology innovation to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of organizational operations and business processes, encompassing areas such as information privacy and security, cloud computing, human-computer interaction, and sustainability in information systems. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, including highly cited works like "Predictors of engagement and participation in an on-line course" (Online Journal of Distance Learning Administration, 2003, 169 citations), "Internet marketing: a content analysis of the research" (Electronic Markets, 2013, 100 citations), and "Fintech: A content analysis of the finance and information systems literature" (Electronic Markets, 2023, 72 citations). Other notable publications include "An examination of the factors influencing student usage of dropbox, a file hosting service" (2012), "Privacy research: application of content analysis to assess a contemporary area of research" (International Journal of Electronic Marketing and Retailing, 2011), and "An analysis of student engagement versus performance in a business statistics course during the COVID-19 pandemic" (Online Journal of Distance Learning Administration, 2021).
