Kenneth Zula, Ph.D., SPHR, SHRM-SCP, is an Associate Professor of Health Administration and Human Resources in the Panuska College of Professional Studies at the University of Scranton, where he joined the faculty in 2011. He serves as the Program Director for the Graduate Human Resources Management Online Program and the Human Resources Studies Program. Dr. Zula holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Organizational Management from Misericordia University, as well as a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from The Pennsylvania State University. Prior to his academic career, he accumulated over 12 years of experience in health care administration, non-profit management, and human resources, including serving as Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Privacy Officer for a large behavioral health care provider in Pennsylvania. In addition to his university role, Dr. Zula is the Chief Executive Officer of Xceed America, Inc., which offers administrative, human resource, and support oversight to struggling not-for-profit organizations. He was granted tenure and promoted to Associate Professor effective for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Dr. Zula's research specializes in human capital planning and strategic human resource management, with a particular emphasis on the linkages between talent management and organizational strategic direction. His peer-reviewed articles have been published in the Journal of Leadership Studies, Human Resource Development Quarterly, Human Resource Development Review, and the Journal of American Business Education. He has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences, including the International Conference on Business and Economics Research in Barcelona, Spain, and Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Zula holds certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and SHRM Senior Certified Professional, and he is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Academy of Management, and the Academy of Human Resource Development. Within the University of Scranton, he contributes to faculty governance through service on the Benefits Committee, Salary and Benefits Committee, and Community-Based Learning Board. He also serves on the editorial team of the American Journal of Health Sciences.
