About Kenneth

Kenneth McCall, PharmD, BCGP, FAPhA, serves as Chair and Clinical Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and completed an ambulatory care specialty residency with the U.S. Army at Reynolds Army Hospital, Fort Sill, in collaboration with the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System. McCall brings over 25 years of academic experience, having previously held the position of Professor and Department Chair of Pharmacy Practice at the University of New England School of Pharmacy. Earlier in his career, he was an Associate Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he headed the community care division, and served as clinical pharmacy manager at Northwest Texas Healthcare System. His leadership roles extend to chairing the University Faculty Assembly at the University of New England, directing PGY1 community pharmacy residency programs at both the University of New England and Texas Tech, presiding over the Maine Pharmacy Association, serving as vice president of the Partnership for Safe Medicines governing board, chairing the MaineCare Drug Utilization Review Committee, and co-chairing the Maine Prescription Drug Affordability Board.

McCall's research interests center on pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacy practice outcomes, and drug safety. He has co-authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications, often mentoring pharmacy, medical, and graduate students as well as residents. Notable works include 'Trends in use of prescription stimulants in the United States and Territories, 2006 to 2016' (PLoS One, 2018), 'Preadmission predictors of PharmD graduates' performance on the NAPLEX' (American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, 2007), and 'Trends in medical use of opioids in the US, 2006–2016' (American Journal of Preventive Medicine, 2018). He currently serves as associate editor for the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. McCall's contributions have earned him the Fellow of the American Pharmacists Association designation in 2018, the Bowl of Hygeia Award from the Maine Pharmacy Association in 2015, and the APhA Immunization Champion Award in 2015. At Binghamton University, he has received teaching honors, including Department of Pharmacy Practice Teacher of the Year for multiple classes.
