Kerrie Seymour is an Associate Professor of Theatre in the Department of Performing Arts at Clemson University. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Trinity Rep Conservatory and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University. At Clemson, she teaches Acting, Special Topics in Theatre, and Theatre Appreciation, and directs productions for the Clemson Players, including Twelfth Night, Into the Woods, A Lie of the Mind, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Full Flex.
Seymour brings over two decades of professional experience as an actor and director to her academic role. A member of Actors' Equity Association, she performed extensively at Trinity Repertory Company in roles such as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Feste in Twelfth Night, Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Vicki/Belinda in Noises Off, and Mrs. Crachit and Belle/Lucy in A Christmas Carol. She founded the theatre company Three Strange Angels in Rhode Island, which earned acclaim for its inventive production of Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband. Other acting credits include Margaret in Much Ado About Nothing at the Gamm Theatre, Lot in the world premiere of Pretty Speeches at Perishable Theatre, the world premiere of Melissa Arctic at Folger Theatre, The Night of the Iguana at Washington Shakespeare Company, roles at Charter Theatre, Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lady Macduff in Macbeth, and others at Virginia Shakespeare Company, Rachel in Reckless at The Warehouse Theatre, and Lenny in Crimes of the Heart at CentreStage. Her directing credits feature The Importance of Being Earnest at Virginia Shakespeare Company, The Tempest at Keegan Theatre, and Be Aggressive at University of South Carolina-Upstate. Previously, she taught at the University of South Carolina-Upstate and serves on Clemson’s Academic Advising Committee.
