E. Kevin Renshler, Ph.D., is the Director of Sport Leadership and Strategy and Associate Professor of Practice in Berry College's Charter School of Education and Human Sciences. He earned his Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Management from The Ohio State University in 2007, with a dissertation on NCAA Division I operating budgets, supported by the Houghton and Schoenbaum Scholarships. He completed a Post-Doctorate in Entrepreneurship and International Business at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business Administration in 2009 through the AACSB Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program. Renshler holds an M.S. in Exercise and Health Studies from Miami University (Ohio) in 1995, with a thesis on plyometric exercise training, and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from The Ohio State University in 1987. His extensive career spans academic leadership and coaching. At Berry College since 2019, he directed the Center for Student Enterprises and Entrepreneurship Development (C-SEED) from 2019 to 2022, overseeing twelve student enterprises, launching the Shipyard student-operated bookstore in 2020, fostering joint ventures for Berry Farms enterprises, partnering with the Rome Floyd Chamber, and organizing entrepreneurship competitions such as The PITCH and Social Impact Challenge. Since 2022, he has led the sport leadership program, revising curriculum and degree requirements, implementing assessment standards, designing community-based projects in upper-division courses, overseeing internships, and developing co-curricular certifications and study abroad opportunities in the Department of Kinesiology. Previously, he served as Interim Dean and Dean of the College of Business at the University of Findlay (2015-2017) and Barton College (2013-2015), where he pursued AACSB accreditation, revised programs, and facilitated 3+2 BS/MBA offerings. Other roles include Associate Director of MiddCORE at Middlebury College (2018-2019), Assistant Professor positions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2007-2009), University of South Florida (2009-2011), Florida Southern College (2011-2012), and head and assistant women's intercollegiate volleyball coaching at Kent State University, Northwestern University, Auburn University, and Miami University.
Renshler's research interests center on maximizing the efficacy of community-based projects to enhance student learning outcomes and integrating entrepreneurship into non-business programs at residential liberal arts institutions. Renshler is a member of the North American Society of Sport Management, the Academy of Management, and the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
