Kevin Waloff, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Clinician Educator) at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He serves as Co-Director of Recruitment and Attending Physician in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, positions he has held since joining the institution in 2013. Waloff earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Health and Doctor of Medicine from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, graduating in 2010. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, from 2010 to 2013. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
Waloff's research focuses on critical areas in pediatric hospital medicine. His publications include "Screening for Social Determinants of Health in Hospitalized Children" published in Hospital Pediatrics in 2020, which examines screening practices in hospitalized pediatric patients; "Risk factors for overnight respiratory events following sedation for magnetic resonance imaging in children with sleep apnea" in Sleep and Breathing in 2017; "Unplanned admissions to a pediatric cardiac critical care unit: a review of 2 years' experience" in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in 2015; and "Noncoronary inflammation in Kawasaki disease is associated with abnormal myocardial deformation in the acute phase" in the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography in 2014. These works have contributed to understanding respiratory risks post-sedation, cardiac care transitions, and inflammatory effects in pediatric conditions. In medical education, Waloff heads e-learning programs in his division, maintaining an educational website on topics including palliative care, pain management, legislative advocacy, and research skills. He presented posters at the 2015 USC Innovations in Medical Education conference on a pediatric cardiology curriculum developed by hospitalists and a capstone course for pediatrics residency preparation. Additionally, he serves as Member-at-Large and Chair of the Committee on Injury and Poison Prevention in the local American Academy of Pediatrics chapter and was past medical director of the Allstate Teen-Parent Safe Driving Partnership.
