Dr. Kip Werren is a Lecturer in the School of Law at the University of New England. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of New England, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from The College of Law, and a PhD from Western Sydney University. Additionally, he is a Certified Practising Accountant with CPA Australia, a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants, and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. With extensive experience in professional legal practice and professional accounting practice, Dr. Werren continues to provide expert advice on business structures, estate planning, property law, corporations law, and commercial law. He serves as a board member of Community Legal Centres NSW and as a consultant with Growing Potential.
Dr. Werren's research interests include natural resource management and regulation, law and agriculture, taxation law, property law, and commercial law. His expertise encompasses resource management, property, commercial law, and NDIS-related issues. He teaches a range of courses such as Property Law, Commercial Law, NDIS and Disability Legal Issues, Taxation Law, LLM Research Topics, Honours in Law, Remedies and Advanced Legal Skills, and Law Experiential Learning. Key publications include co-authoring the books Property Law (LexisNexis, 2nd ed, 2015) with Bronwen Jackman and Australian Uniform Evidence Law (Cambridge University Press, 2019) with Fiona Hum, Bronwen Jackman, Ottavio Quirico, and Gregor Urbas. Notable book chapters are 'Future Interest and Perpetuities' in Property Law in Principle (Thomson Reuters, 2nd ed, 2008), 'The Use of Taxation Incentives to Create New Eco-Service Markets' in Critical Issues in Environmental Taxation (Oxford University Press, 2009) with Paul Martin, 'Funding Biodiversity Conservation' in Achieving Biodiversity Protection in Megadiverse Countries (Routledge, 2020) with David Rossiter, Paul Martin, and Larissa Ribeiro da Cruz Godoy, and 'Right to Work of Persons with Disabilities: the Public-Private Interface' in Inclusive Sustainability (Springer, 2022) with Guy Charlton.
