Helps students develop critical skills.
Kristin Miller serves as Professor I of Art and Design at Palm Beach State College, a position she has held for the last 17 years on the Lake Worth campus. In her role as Department Chair of Fine Arts and Graphic Design, she leads the department and manages the HU Gallery, curating 4-6 exhibitions per year. She is the primary contact for the Lake Worth Campus Art Gallery. Miller holds an M.F.A. in Visual Studies from the Visual Studies Workshop at SUNY Brockport, completed in 2005, and a B.A. in Studio Art from Florida State University in 2001. Her teaching responsibilities encompass foundational courses such as Drawing 1, Design Fundamentals, and 3D Design, as well as advanced graphic design instruction using the Adobe Creative Suite.
Miller's commitment to teaching excellence has been recognized with the 2023 NISOD Excellence Award in Teaching and Learning from Palm Beach State College, where she was one of five faculty members selected. Additionally, in 2023, she earned the ACUE Effective Online Teaching Practices credential, a nationally recognized endorsement co-sponsored by the Association of College and University Educators and the American Council on Education. As a practicing artist and designer in South Florida, Miller specializes in mixed media studio work, trained in photography, printmaking, and installation. Her artwork creates immersive habitats that investigate personal and environmental narratives within 2D and 3D spaces, often exploring the concept of "wall-life" in relation to the Florida landscape. Key exhibitions include her solo presentation "We Become the Place" at the Palm Beach Cultural Council from December 2023 to January 2024, group shows "Woven" and "Fiberoptics" at the same venue, and "Florida Summer" faculty spotlight at PBSC's Lake Worth gallery scheduled for November-December 2025. She has also contributed to faculty shows and been featured in podcasts discussing academic growth and student success at the college.
