About Kristy

Kristy Lauver, Ph.D., is Department Chair and Professor in the Management and Leadership Programs Department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the University of Iowa, an M.L.H.R. from The Ohio State University, and a B.A. in Sociology from Kansas State University. Lauver has been with UW-Eau Claire since 2003, initially as an Associate Professor in the Department of Management and Marketing, and now leads the department overseeing undergraduate programs in management, leadership studies, health care administration, and related areas. She also contributes to the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium as faculty.

Her teaching and research interests include strategic management, organizational behavior, human resource management, safety practices, health care policy, and human resource practices. Lauver's scholarship has had considerable impact in organizational sciences. Key publications include the meta-analysis 'Do psychosocial and study skill factors predict college outcomes?' co-authored with S.B. Robbins et al., published in Psychological Bulletin in 2004; 'Distinguishing between employees' perceptions of person-job and person-organization fit' with A. Kristof-Brown in Journal of Vocational Behavior in 2001; 'The role of personality in task and relationship conflict' with J.E. Bono et al. in Journal of Personality in 2002; 'Human resource safety practices and employee injuries' in Journal of Managerial Issues in 2007; 'Environmental responsibility: millennial values and cultural dimensions' with N.J. Hanson-Rasmussen in Journal of Global Responsibility in 2018; and 'Leadership and staff perceptions on long-term care staffing challenges related to certified nursing assistant retention' with L.J.G. Creapeau and J.L. Johs-Artisensi in JONA: The Journal of Nursing Administration in 2022. These works explore themes of fit perceptions, psychosocial predictors, safety, sustainability, and leadership in organizational contexts.
