Lam Tran is a Kaiwhakaako, or Teaching Fellow, at the Kōhatu Centre for Hauora Māori within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Otago. No Whitinamu ōku tipuna. No Heretaunga ahau. Ko Lam Tran tōku ingoa. Lam was born in Te Whanganui-a-Tara but is from sunny Heretaunga on the east coast. Prior to joining Kōhatu, Lam was in pastoral care for tauira as a sub-warden for 4 years at the University of Otago. He has completed a bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and a Diploma for Graduates in Community Health Care from the University of Otago, with interests in equitable healthcare for Tamariki Ora and health policy.
Within Kōhatu, Lam’s role as a teaching fellow is to help support the delivery of hauora māori to the 200-level and 300-level hauora māori tauira and supporting the Māori Health major under the Bachelor of Health Sciences. He also takes care of administration for the papers and any other form of support students may need. Lam Tran is affiliated with the Health Sciences Division in Dunedin.
