D. Lance Marsh serves as Professor of Acting and Head of Performance in the School of Theatre at Oklahoma City University, where he also holds the position of Artistic Director of TheatreOCU. He teaches upper-division acting courses, including those focused on Chekhov, Shakespeare, Greek Tragedy, Audition Techniques, and Comedy. Marsh earned a BFA in Theatre (Acting) from Stephens College and an MFA in Acting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before joining Oklahoma City University, he taught at the Professional Actor Training Program at the University of Washington. His early career includes serving as a founding company member of the Central Works Theatre Ensemble in California and as the founding Artistic Director of the Summerset Theatre in Wisconsin.
In 2015, Marsh received the Oklahoma City University Outstanding Faculty Award. He directed Cosi, which achieved Region VI Finalist status in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and was nominated—one of only 17 productions nationwide—to perform at the Kennedy Center. As an AEA equity actor, Marsh has appeared in regional theatre productions such as The Cherry Orchard, The Taming of the Shrew, Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra, Richard II, As You Like It, Love’s Labor’s Lost, and King Lear at American Players Theatre; McTeague, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and Life During Wartime at Berkeley Repertory Theatre; and roles in Assassins and Frost/Nixon at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. He maintains leadership roles including Associate Artistic Director at Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park and has led student groups to international festivals in London, Edinburgh, and Cyprus. Marsh oversees professional showcases and contributes to initiatives like the School of Theatre's membership in the World Theatre Education Alliance.
