Laramie Tolentino is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management within the Faculty of Business and Economics at Macquarie University, where she is affiliated with the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre and the Health at Work Research Centre. She earned her PhD in Business from The Australian National University on 15 July 2016, supported by the Endeavour International Postgraduate Award from the Australian Government Department of Education and Training. Tolentino also holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology awarded with High Distinction, as well as a double undergraduate degree in Education and Psychology, graduating Cum Laude and receiving the Gold Medal for Outstanding Student Teacher. Prior to her current role, she held teaching and research positions at Monash University, The Australian National University, and De La Salle University in the Philippines.
Tolentino's research focuses on adaptive career and work-life management, drawing on career development and resource theories to investigate antecedents and outcomes of career adaptability across life stages, career pathways, work-family interfaces, and cultural settings. Her specializations encompass career adaptability, entrepreneurial intentions, dispositional antecedents of career adaptability, intimate partner aggression and workplace support for women's career advancement, and cyberloafing behavior at work. Key publications include 'Does domestic intimate partner aggression affect career outcomes? The Role of perceived organizational support' (Human Resource Management, 2017), 'The role of career adaptability in predicting entrepreneurial intentions: a moderated mediation model' (Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2014), 'Career adaptation: the relation of adaptability to learning goal orientation, proactive personality, and career optimism' (Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2014), 'Ingratiation as an adapting strategy: its relationship with career adaptability, career sponsorship, and promotability' (Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2016), and 'Validation of the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale and an examination of a model of career adaptation in the Philippine context' (Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2013). She has received the Best Paper Award from the Academy of Management Social Issues in Management Division (2011), Best Paper Prize from the Australian Psychological Society Industrial and Organisational Psychology Conference (2011), Best Paper Finalist from the Academy of Management Social Issues in Management Division (2015), and Best Paper from the Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division (2022). Additionally, her first-authored article on career adaptability and entrepreneurial intentions was one of Elsevier's most downloaded papers in 2014 and 2015, and her work on dispositional antecedents of career adaptability was among Scopus's most cited since 2013 in the Journal of Vocational Behavior. Tolentino serves as a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Vocational Behavior since 2018 and has delivered public lectures on topics such as career management strategies, career transitions in China, and self-monitoring in career adaptability.
