Wang has held positions including resident and attending physician at Chengde Medical College Affiliated Hospital, strabismus and pediatric ophthalmology physician at Tianjin Eye Hospital, and associate chief physician and chief physician at Peking University Third Hospital before joining Peking University People's Hospital in 2015. His research focuses on strabismus, amblyopia, pediatric ophthalmology, congenital nystagmus, and genetic studies of eye diseases. He has led multiple National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and discovered gene mutations associated with conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa, ocular coloboma, and Meesmann corneal dystrophy, with publications in journals including Science and American Journal of Human Genetics.
