Leo R. Vijayasarathy is Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Information Systems in the College of Business at Colorado State University, positions he has held since July 2017 and June 2019, respectively. He also directs the Master of Computer Information Systems program since September 2018. Vijayasarathy joined Colorado State University in August 2000 as Assistant Professor, advancing through the ranks to Associate Professor in July 2003. Prior appointments include Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Management Information Systems at North Dakota State University from August 1996 to July 2000, Assistant Professor at Barry University from September 1993 to May 1996, and Instructor at Florida International University from January 1990 to August 1993, along with research assistant roles at both Florida International University and Marquette University. His academic qualifications comprise a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Florida International University in 1994, with a thesis on the consequences of interorganizational information systems; an MBA from Marquette University in 1988; and a B.Com. from Loyola College, Chennai, India, in 1985.
Vijayasarathy's scholarly contributions center on computer information systems, addressing agile software development methodologies, software project management, database query formulation and complexity, IT business value and managerial ambidexterity, supply chain integration, and online consumer behavior. His accolades encompass the Colorado State University College of Business Excellence in Faculty Service Award (2022–2023), Association for Information Systems Distinguished Member (2023), Colorado State University Office of International Programs Distinguished Service Award (2022), multiple department and college research grants (2003–2018), Dean’s Scholars (2011), Kemble Family Research Fellow (2011–2012), Chuck and Gwen Lillis Faculty Fellow (2010–2011), and First Community Bank Faculty Fellow (2007–2010).
