About Linda

Professor Linda Morrice is Professor of Education and Migration in the School of Education and Social Work at the University of Sussex. She holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Sussex, awarded in 2010. Her doctoral research examined refugee learning and identity. Morrice's research specializations encompass refugee education, the integration of migrants into education systems, lifelong learning, and barriers to higher education access for refugees and asylum seekers. As Co-Director of the Centre for International Education, she advances research on international education and migration-related challenges.

Morrice has built her academic career at the University of Sussex, progressing from senior lecturer in education to her current professorial role. She teaches on undergraduate programs including BA in Childhood and Youth, PGCE, and BA in Early Years. A founding member of the University of Sussex Sanctuary Group, she previously served as Co-Chair. Her scholarly output includes the book Being a Refugee: Learning and Identity – A Longitudinal Study of Refugees in the UK (2013). She has submitted written evidence to UK parliamentary inquiries on integration principles and refugee support. In 2018, Morrice won the Sussex Impact Award recognizing her research's societal influence.
