Logan Kelly serves as Department Chair and Professor of Economics in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kansas in 2007, specializing in macroeconomics and econometrics, with his dissertation titled 'Measuring the Stock of Money' advised by William A. Barnett. He also holds an M.A. in Economics from the University of Kansas in 2005 and a B.S.B.A. in Economics from Missouri Western State University in 2002, graduating summa cum laude. His academic career at UWRF began as Assistant Professor from 2010 to 2014, advancing to Associate Professor in 2014 and Department Chair in 2017. He directed the UWRF Center for Economic Research from 2010 to 2017. Prior to UWRF, he was Assistant Professor at Bryant University from 2007 to 2010. Kelly has taught courses including Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Intermediate Macro, Money & Banking, Econometrics, and Managerial Statistics.
Kelly's research focuses on macroeconomics, monetary economics, financial economics, aggregation theory, regional economic development, index number theory, and forensic economics. His ongoing projects include analyses of monetary policy implementation, structural break analysis for economic damages in dairy litigation, and monetary aggregates. Notable publications encompass 'A Model of Monetary Policy Shocks for Financial Crises and Normal Conditions' in the Journal of Money, Credit & Banking (2018), 'Risky Monetary Aggregates for the UK and US' in the Journal of International Money and Finance (forthcoming 2018), 'For They Know Not What They Do: An Analysis of Monetary Policy During the Great Moderation' in Applied Economics Letters (2017), and a book chapter 'Monetary Policy in Taiwan: the Implications of Liquidity' in the Handbook of Asian Finance (2014). He has received the College of Business and Economics Outstanding Researcher Award at UWRF in 2018 and 2013, Outstanding Teacher Award in 2015, and Outstanding Adviser Award in 2015. Kelly has served on the Faculty Senate (2016-present, 2012-2015), chaired the Graduate Studies Curriculum Committee, and contributed as Associate Editor for Global Business & Economics Review (2012-2015). His service includes multiple university and college committees, such as the University Curriculum Committee and CBE Assurance of Learning Committee.
