Dr. Anuradha M. Ashok serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at PSG Institute of Advanced Studies, Coimbatore. She obtained her Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Oslo, Norway, in 2008, focusing her thesis on structural variations in proton and oxide ion conducting alkaline earth niobate and tantalate complex perovskites under supervisors Prof. Arne Olsen and Prof. Truls Norby. Earlier, she earned an M.Sc. in Materials Science from the Department of Materials Science at Mangalore University, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, and a B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from Sri D. M. College, Ujire, Mangalore University, Karnataka. Her career trajectory within PSG institutions encompasses her current role since 2022, Associate Professor at PSG IAS from 2019 to 2022, Associate Professor at PSG College of Technology from 2017 to 2019, Assistant Professor at PSG IAS from 2010 to 2016, and Research Scientist at PSG IAS from 2009 to 2010.
Dr. Ashok's research specializations encompass functional oxides for clean energy and optoelectronic applications, including solid oxide fuel cells, thermoelectrics, photocatalytic hydrogen generation, solar photovoltaics, transparent conductors, memristors, oxide composites for EMI shielding, and perovskite halides for optoelectronics. She possesses expertise in transmission electron microscopy, crystallography, structural analysis, and structure-property relationships. As Principal Investigator, she has led funded projects such as Functionalised graphene-oxide nanocomposites with enhanced thermoelectric properties (DST India-Belarus, 2023, 19.82 L), Carbon fiber/Alumina fiber reinforced Boron Nitride Composites for High Temperature Applications (DRDO-CARS, 2022, 24.49 L), ZnAl2O4 type spinel composites for thermoelectric applications (UGC DAE-CSR), and Development of novel thermoelectric module using doped and nanostructured ZnO (DST SERB, 50.86 L). She has also contributed as Co-PI on multiple DST-SERB, DRDO, and ARDB projects. Awards include the FUNMAT research fellowship from University of Oslo (2002), SCANDEM travel grant by Scandinavian Society of Electron Microscopy (2001), 2nd Prize in the Electron Micrograph contest by Electron Microscopy Society of India (2010), and Visiting fellowship from Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (2018).
