Dr. M. Sumesh serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and Dean of International Relations at M.I.E.T. Engineering College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, India, having joined on August 16, 2024. Previously, he held the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bengaluru, India, from 2018 to 2024. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Structural Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, India, in 2023; a Master's degree in Structural Engineering from Government Engineering College, Thrissur, Kerala, in 2018; and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Calicut University, Kerala, in 2016.
Dr. Sumesh's research specializations focus on materials and structures, supplementary cementitious materials, fiber reinforced concrete, sustainable concrete, geopolymer concrete, and self-compacting concrete. He has published over 25 articles in SCI- and Scopus-indexed journals and international conferences, accumulating more than 721 citations on Google Scholar. Notable publications include 'An experimental investigation on strength properties of fly ash blended soils treated with cement' (2017), 'Optimization of fly ash and cement for stabilizing clay soil' (2024), 'Effect of Different Cure Conditions on the Shrinkage of Geopolymer Mortar' (2019), 'Effect of binder content and water-binder ratio in mortar developed using partial replacement of cement with palm oil clinker powder' (2018), and 'Eco-Optimized Ternary Mortars Incorporating Industrial Waste: Mechanical Performance, Statistical Microstructure, and Life Cycle Impact' (2025).
