Mandy Marable is the Associate State 4-H Leader and State 4-H Faculty member at the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, where she serves as Extension Specialist for Curriculum and Staff Development in the Education field. She earned a Master’s degree in Interrelated Education from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University, graduating cum laude. Marable began her professional career as a special education coordinator and teacher at Holsenbeck Elementary School in Barrow County, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2000 and received recognition from the Barrow County Superintendent’s Council. In 2002, she joined the State 4-H faculty, supporting County Extension Agents by developing curricula and materials to deliver 4-H programming to students, coordinating training sessions, and strengthening partnerships between Georgia 4-H and Georgia’s public school systems. She has advanced to the rank of Senior Public Service Associate and currently provides guidance to Georgia 4-H programming as well as to the State 4-H faculty and staff who facilitate statewide initiatives. Her responsibilities include coordinating collective staff development efforts for County Extension faculty in areas such as youth development, new agent training, partnerships with public schools, lesson development, and curricula implementation. Marable collaborates with colleagues from the university, state agencies, and national organizations to ensure Georgia’s agents access the latest staff development materials. She acts as the faculty liaison to the State 4-H Advisory Committee and serves as the 4-H State Afterschool contact, enhancing Georgia 4-H’s longstanding relationship with public education partners.
Marable’s contributions to youth development and extension education have been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Walter B. Hill Award in 2019, the Distinguished Service Award for Contributions to the National 4-H Cooperative Curriculum System, the Georgia Association of Extension 4-H Agents Achievement in Service Award, and the Outstanding New Agent-State Staff award. As a former Wilkes County 4-H’er, she received the outstanding senior 4-H’er award accompanied by the Mitchell Willingham scholarship and was recognized as an Honorary Master 4-H’er in 1994. She is a graduate of the Extension Academy for Professional Excellence, the Vivian Fisher Public Service and Outreach Leadership Academy, and Leadership Georgia. Marable has held leadership positions such as past president of Georgia’s Alpha Beta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi and served four summers in the Georgia 4-H camping program, including two in leadership roles. She is also listed among faculty in the University of Georgia Obesity Research Initiative as an Extension 4-H Specialist. Actively engaged in her community, she serves on the Oconee County Library Board and has been involved in various organizations including Antioch Christian Church, Extra Special People, Inc., and Georgia 4-H Counselor Alumni.
