Associate Professor Marcus Rodrigs serves as Associate Professor of Accounting in the Newcastle Business School at the University of Newcastle, Australia, a position he has held following his progression from Lecturer in the Faculty of Business and Law from 2008 to 2018. He possesses qualifications including BCom, MCom, MPhil, PhD, MAICD, MICDA, and CPA. Prior to academia, Rodrigs worked as a Risk Management Consultant with KPMG Singapore from 2000 to 2007. At the University of Newcastle, he currently holds key leadership roles as President of the Academic Senate, Official Member of the University Council, Deputy Head of School (Teaching & Learning) until 2026, and Program Director for MBA (Global) until 2025. He also serves as Deputy Chair of the NSW/Territories Committee of Chairs of Academic Boards and Senates. Internationally, he was Honorary Professor in Accounting at the University of Dundee, School of Business, United Kingdom (2020-2023), and at Tung Wah College, School of Management, Hong Kong (2021-2023), advising on accounting, finance, corporate governance, risk management, and blended learning. Additional roles include Director of the Board for Shine On Support Services, Member of the Impartiality Committee for QMS Certification Services, and past Faculty Director of Online Education and Peer Assisted Study Sessions.
Rodrigs specializes in corporate governance, financial accounting, risk management, and accounting education, with fields of research encompassing financial accounting (60%) and organisational behaviour (40%).
