Maria Walawender is a Research Fellow in Climate Change and Health at the Institute for Global Health, University College London. She serves as the global research fellow for the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change. She holds a Master of Science in Public Health from Emory University, with a focus on Environmental Health and Epidemiology. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the UCL Institute for Global Health.
Her contributions include co-authorship on multiple Lancet Countdown reports, such as the 2024 Europe report, the 2023 Latin America report, the 2023 China report, and the 2025 global report of the Lancet Countdown on health and climate change.
