About Marie

Marie Ng, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. She also serves as an Affiliate Associate Professor at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington and as Director of the NUS-IHME Global Burden of Disease Research Centre. Her academic background includes a PhD from the University of Southern California specializing in robust statistics and a BS in Psychology with minors in Philosophy and Mathematics from the University of Washington. Ng began her global health research career at IHME as a postgraduate fellow and later as an Assistant Professor before gaining experience leading data science teams in the technology and consulting sectors. Her work focuses on global health, the global burden of disease, impact evaluation, real-world evidence, tobacco exposure and burden, and risk factors research. She contributes to major collaborative efforts such as the Global Burden of Disease Study, including analyses on enteric infectious diseases, breast cancer, causes of death, and all-cause mortality. Ng has held appointments bridging academia and industry, applying statistical expertise to population health measurement and predictive analytics.
