Dr. Mariusz Biliniewicz serves as Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Theology within the School of Philosophy and Theology at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney campus. He earned his MA/MPhil from the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław, Poland, PhD from the National University of Ireland, Dublin, and Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney. Biliniewicz has studied and taught in Poland, Ireland, and Australia, previously holding positions as Senior Lecturer in Theology and Associate Dean of Research and Academic Development in the same school. In addition to his academic role, he currently directs the Liturgy Office of the Archdiocese of Sydney and acts as Consultant to the National Liturgical Council under the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.
His academic interests focus on contemporary Catholic theology, the intersections of ecclesiology and moral theology, liturgy and sacraments, the Second Vatican Council, faith and reason, and systematic theology more broadly. Biliniewicz teaches courses in Christology, Ecclesiology, Mariology, Trinity, Sacraments, Fundamental Theology, Reason and Revelation, Research Methods in Philosophy and Theology, Fundamental Moral Theology, and the LOGOS program. He supervises postgraduate research in areas such as the theology of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, Second Vatican Council, liturgy and sacraments, post-Vatican II theology, ecclesiology, faith and reason, and general systematic theology. Key publications include his authored books: The Liturgical Vision of Pope Benedict XVI: A Theological Inquiry (Peter Lang, 2013) and Amoris Laetitia and the Spirit of Vatican II: The Source of Controversy (Routledge, 2018). He has edited volumes such as Agere in Persona Christi: Aspects of the Ministerial Priesthood (Smenos Publications, 2015) and Worship in Spirit and in Truth (Smenos Publications, 2023), contributing forewords, editions, and chapters. Notable book chapters cover "Reasonable Worship (Romans 12:1): Joseph Ratzinger’s Theology of Sacrifice" (2014), "Mariology of John Paul II: An Overview" (2017), "Pastoral Magisterium? The Teaching Office of the Church in the Pontificate of Pope Francis" (2019), and "Martin Buber: Personalism and Relationality" (Bloomsbury, 2023). Forthcoming works include chapters in The Oxford Handbook of Joseph Ratzinger (2024) and Pneumatology at the Beginning of the Third Millennium (2024). He has also produced Polish translations of several Catholic works, including those by Tom Peterson, Linda Perrone Rooney, Scott Hahn, and Walter J. Ciszek.
