Professor Mark Gahegan is a Professor of Computer Science in the Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland, where he also serves as Director of the Centre for eResearch. His work focuses on geographical information science, including topics such as geospatial cyberinfrastructure, geovisualization, uncertainty visualization, and the integration of geographic visualization with knowledge discovery in databases.
Gahegan has contributed to numerous publications in these areas, with highly cited works including 'Visualizing geospatial information uncertainty: What we know and what we need to know' (2005), 'Geospatial cyberinfrastructure: past, present and future' (2010), and 'Visual semiotics & uncertainty visualization: An empirical study' (2012).
