Matt Bridgeman serves as Principal Lecturer in Paramedic Apprenticeships at the University of Cumbria within the Institute of Health. He has over ten years of experience as a registered paramedic with the South East Coast Ambulance Service, where he worked as a Clinical Team Leader and Practice Placement Lead in Clinical Education while delivering frontline care. At the university he module leads the Preparing the Professional Practitioner module, leads recruitment activities, and provides strategic oversight for paramedic apprenticeships and bridging courses. He also lectures on leadership and ethics and is currently seconded to the Innovation team.
Bridgeman holds a Foundation Degree in Paramedic Science together with one hundred credits of Level 6 modules. He has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and is pursuing an MA in Education whose dissertation examines apprentice identity within higher education. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a member of the College of Paramedics, and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. His career combines extensive clinical practice with academic leadership to support the professional development of paramedics through apprenticeship pathways.
