Matthew Beverley-Stone serves as Senior Lecturer in Nursing (Teaching Focused) in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, a position he holds since November 2024. An accomplished nursing professional, he brings over twenty-five years of experience in clinical practice, academia, and health services management, with a specialization in psychiatric and mental health nursing. Originally trained and employed by the UK National Health Service, Beverley-Stone has held clinical and leadership roles in District Health Boards and non-government organizations in New Zealand and Australia. Currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Canberra, his research focuses on mental health, psychiatry, addictions, substance use, and physical health management in mental health settings. A notable publication is 'The adaptation and implementation of the Health Improvement Profile to Australian standards in public mental health settings' co-authored with T. Brown and A. May, published in 2020 in the Journal of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (volume 27, issue 5, pages 628-639), which has received 8 citations. At La Trobe, he coordinates the subject Mental Healthcare in Nursing (NSG2006) and contributes to the Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Psychological Science program.
