About Md. Mijanur

Professor Dr. Md. Mijanur Rahman is a Professor, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Dean of the School of Engineering, Science and Technology at Manarat International University, positions he has held since November 2024. A committed academician with profound industrial exposure, he earned his PhD in Photonics based Quantum Communication from the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University, Malaysia in 2010, with a thesis titled Enhanced Framework for the Construction of Photonic Crystal Fiber Based Quantum Communication System. His prior academic achievements include an MSc in Remote Sensing from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in 1999, focusing on a Knowledge-based System for Road Network Identification in Satellite Images, and a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1995, achieving Upper 2nd Class honors. Earlier, he secured first-class results in HSC from Rajshahi College, standing sixth in the combined merit list of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rajshahi, and first-class with star marks in SSC from Dariapur High School under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jessore.

Rahman's career spans significant roles in academia and industry, including Dean of the School of Science and Engineering at Uttara University from April 2023 to November 2024, Chairman of the CSE Department there from January 2018 to May 2022, Professor from January 2018 to May 2022 and February 2023 to November 2024, and Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Research and Training. He previously served at University of Information Technology and Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, and International Islamic University Chittagong. In industry, he worked as Lead Research Engineer and Senior Research Engineer at Embedded Wireless Labs, Malaysia. His research specializations include Machine Learning and Deep Learning, LTE and OFDM Communications, Drone and Robotics, and Quantum Communication, with active engagement in R&D in these areas. He has authored numerous publications in international journals and conferences, such as Modeling Photon Propagation Through Human Breast with Tumor in Diffuse Optical Tomography (2020, Springer), PAPR Reduction in OFDM Signal by Incorporating Mu-Law Companding Approach into Enhanced PTS Scheme (2018, Journal of Optical Communications), Spectrogram Segmentation for Bird Species Classification Based on Temporal Continuity (2017, IEEE ICCIT), Modified Guidance Law Based on A Sliding Mode Controller for A Missile Guidance System (2016, Tehnički vjesnik), and Control Theoretic Model of Regulatory Effect of Ribosomal Frameshifting on Polyamine Metabolism (2015). Rahman also serves as Executive Editor for Manarat International University Studies, contributing to scholarly dissemination.
