Rate My Professor Mehul Raval

Mehul S. Raval is Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Ahmedabad University. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (1996), a Master’s degree in Digital Systems (2002), and a PhD in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (2008), all from the University of Pune. With more than 27 years of experience in higher education, he has held positions including lecturer and assistant professor at SCET Surat (1997–2008), assistant professor at DA-IICT Gandhinagar (2008–2013), associate professor at Ahmedabad University (2013–2018), and founding head and professor of the ICT department at the School of Technology, PDPU Gandhinagar (2018–2020). He served as Associate Dean for Experiential Learning at Ahmedabad University from 2020 to 2024.

Dr. Raval’s research focuses on applied computer vision, image processing, machine learning, data analytics, and engineering education, with interests extending to digital agriculture, sports analytics, and intelligent transportation systems. He has led multiple funded projects supported by agencies such as GUJCOST, BRNS, DST, and NVIDIA, and maintains editorial roles including Senior Editor and Associate Editor of IEEE Access (from 2017) and positions with Frontiers journals. He has received awards including the Gandhian Young Technological Award (2016), IEEE Access Outstanding Associate Editor recognition, and top scholar ranking in brain tumour research by ScholarGPS. Dr. Raval has delivered keynote addresses and workshops internationally and collaborated as a Sakura Science fellow at Okayama University, visiting associate professor at Olin College of Engineering, and visiting professor at Sacred Heart University.
